There is a new development in the divorce of Nicole Young’s Dr. Dre: the rapper has agreed to pay his ex-wife nearly $ 2 million in temporary child support, according to several reports.

Dre’s wife, since 1996, had filed legal papers in September asking for benefits of $ 1.9 million a month, plus $ 5 million to pay her lawyer.

In his official response at the time, Dre said the couple had a prenuptial agreement. Young argued that she was forced to sign the document and that her husband later tore it up.

Now, in a settlement that his lawyers have reached, the “Next Episode” artist will not pay the $ 5 million. Young is said to be responsible for his own legal costs.

Like TMZ reports, Dre, whose real name is Andre Young, will continue to pay for his wife’s living expenses at his home in Malibu and the cost of his mother’s home in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood of Los Angeles. He will not be responsible for the cost of Young’s safety. The terms will be valid at least until the next divorce hearing, scheduled for April.

Yahoo Entertainment contacted Dre’s representative for comment.

In June 2019, Forbes estimated that Dre was worth $ 800 million – between his music and his many entrepreneurial ventures – and ranked him second on the list of the world’s richest rappers. Six months later, the magazine crowned him as the most profitable music artist of the decade, above Beyoncé, Jay-Z and Taylor Swift, thanks to the $ 950 million he raised during that period.

He allegedly signed this latest deal with Young from his hospital bed at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, where he was taken on Monday after suffering a brain aneurysm. However, in an update on Tuesday night, Dre himself said he was “doing great”.
