Biden leans over to tell someone to distance himself socially, ‘what I’m not doing’

President Biden leaned inches from someone’s face to encourage them to practice social detachment as he promoted the progress of the national vaccine on Tuesday afternoon.

The video shows the president pointing at his face mask, leaning over someone seated and encouraging him to follow the guidelines of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention for coronavirus.

“Keep wearing a mask, wash your hands and get away from it socially – which I’m not doing,” he jokes, causing laughter in a group of people off camera.

Biden commented on the country’s vaccination effort in the State Dining Room, after visiting a clinic in Alexandria, Virginia.

He said more than 554,000 Americans died of the virus and urged the public to continue following the CDC’s health guidelines as the vaccine’s release picks up speed.

“What we do now, we will determine how many people to save or lose in the months of April, May and June, before we reach the 4th of July,” said the president.

He predicted that the “vast majority of Americans” will have at least their first vaccine injected by the end of May.

“Better times are ahead,” he said. “As I said before, we can have a happy and safe 4th of July with your family and friends in small groups in your backyard.”
