First photo of young woman beaten to death “by a dog she rescued” while in bed

This is the first photo of a young woman beaten to death while sleeping in bed by the dog she rescued.

The victim, called locally Keira Ladlow, was alone in a house on Sunbeam Way, Birmingham, when she was attacked by a dog who suffered horrific injuries.

Police were called to her family’s home at 2 pm on Friday after a relative found her mortally wounded in her room, but Mrs Ladlow was pronounced dead at the scene.

The injuries are believed to have been caused by the dog, considered a Staffordshire cross, who also lived at the address.

Police said there was no one else on the property at the time of the incident and that the dog was handed over to the police by the woman’s family and will be humanely put to sleep.

According to The Sun, Abeygail Barrett, who is believed to be a relative, wrote on Facebook: “Her previous dog was a pit bull who died of cancer, so she rescued this dog after meeting him in a garden where he was staying on and off for four years.

“Sometimes dogs are rescued with all good intentions, but their past can make them tragically unpredictable.”

A West Midlands police spokesman said: “The death is being treated as a tragic incident, but without suspicious circumstances.

“A file will be prepared for the coroner in due course.”
