Somewhat unexpectedly, there is a new update coming GT Sport this month. It will be the first update of the game this year, following from the 1.62 update in November 2020.
Polyphony Digital announced the update as part of a post on the official website about the next server maintenance period. This takes place on Wednesday, February 24, three days before the start of the new FIA Online Championship display season on February 27. The announcement is as follows:
In the next moment, we will do maintenance on the ‘Gran Turismo Sport’ servers.
A new game update will also be available after maintenance. Please note that during this time, online services, including [Sport Mode], will not be available.[Day & Time]
February 24, 2021, 04:00 – 06:00 UTC* The above time is subject to change.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your understanding.
There are a myriad of possibilities for this update, although, given that it is relatively new, it seems more likely to be aimed at fixing bugs, technical problems or hidden improvements – and the moment suggests that this may be connected to the 2021 FIA Online Championship.
As things are, GT Sport had six updates in the last 12 months, adding a total of six new cars, but no new circuit content since Laguna Seca in December 2019. That said, there are some vehicles that have already been announced, but are yet to enter – game appearance .
The most recent of these is the Jaguar Vision Gran Turismo SV, unveiled in December, although it was not specifically programmed to GT Sport and can debut in GT7. Other cars that should appear in GT Sport include the Lamborghini Vision Gran Turismo and two Porsche models, including a Vision GT.
We’ll keep an eye on it as it develops, so stay tuned to GTPlanet for all the latest information.
