Dustin Diamond, who is best remembered as the “Screech” nerdy helper of Saved by the gong, is battling stage 4 cancer, according to reports.
Diamond was admitted to a Florida hospital this weekend after enduring pain throughout her body caused by shingles and a general feeling of discomfort. The cancer was then discovered and he is now undergoing his first round of chemotherapy, hoping to overcome it.
The actor had an irregular career after Saved by the gong ended in 2000. He appeared in several low-budget films, made special appearances on TV and was on several reality shows. His only triumph was an appearance on the royal program Celebrity Boxing at Fox, where he won his fight convincingly.
Diamond also wrote a book that tells everything in 2009, Behind the Bell, who detailed the dirt in the antics of the show’s backstage. That may be the reason that Peacock’s reboot of the show that debuted in November 2020 didn’t call him back.
