Ritual of the Night’s Classic Mode should appeal to Castlevania’s old guard fans

Miriam Theme

The publisher 505 Games and the developer ArtPlay shared some more images of the new “Classic Mode”, which is headed for the adventure of the Gothic platform Bloodstained: Night Ritual next month.

Classic Mode will see Miriam facing Hellhold and her dark ministry in the old guard’s 2D platform action, very similar to the fine Castlevania SNES era titles. Fans of these games will immediately recognize the style of play in the tweet below, with images of Miriam climbing stairs, jumping chasms, breaking chandeliers and facing an army of monsters armed with a deadly whip. Simon would be really proud.

The classic mode is one of a selection of free DLC additions released Blood stained: Night Ritual since its initial launch in 2019. Igarashi’s crowdfunding adventure has received alternate protagonists, Randomizer and Boss Revenge modes, as well as a mobile door. More content is expected in 2021, including more stability updates for the Nintendo Switch edition.
