Ralph Fiennes defended “Harry Potter” author JK Rowling amid continuing charges of transphobia.
The actor played the villain Lord Voldemort in the “Harry Potter” films, which debuted in the eighth and final chapter in 2011. Speaking in a recent interview for The Telegraph, he apparently expressed sympathy for the author after comments she made generated widespread criticism about her views on the transgender community.
Fiennes apparently defended Rowling from what he perceived as a culture of cancellation by sweeping it away from the public’s “vitriol”.

The once revered author of “Harry Potter” has been repeatedly criticized on social media for her comments on transgender people in the past. Last June, she posted a tweet mocking an article that referred to “menstruating people”, asking writers to use the term “woman”.

Meanwhile, Rowling has done herself no favor in repressing the conversation around her views on transgender people, publishing a book entitled “Troubled Blood” that focuses on a detective’s search for a serial killer who is wears a woman to attack other women.
