Canadian producer Bob Rock, who was responsible for some of the biggest rock and metal albums of the past 30 years, including all METALLICAstudio production during the 1990s and early 2000s, sold its share of the rights to a catalog of 43 songs to Hipgnosis Songs Fund.
Rock first joined with METALLICA for the band’s eponymous 1991 album (also known as “The Black Album”). O Elektra set debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and remained on the charts for 281 weeks. Rock helmet METALLICAsubsequent albums, until 2003 “St. Anger”.

Rock was represented by a longtime manager Bruce Allen and lawyer Mark L. Kovinsky.
Rock said: “I put my heart and soul in these recordings.
“I know how much Merck loves music, so it was easy to put together.
Allen said, “I know Merck for years. He has a passion for music and for those who make it. I look forward to working with Hypgnosis. “
In 2014, “Metallica” became the first album to sell 16 million copies since Nielsen SoundScan started monitoring sales in 1991.

Rock66 said Reuters in 2006 that he felt “20 years younger” after his split with METALLICA, whose last studio effort, “Hardwired … To Self-Destruct”, was directed by Greg Fidelman.
During the 2003 production “St. Anger”, a petition that about 1,500 fans later signed was posted online asking for METALLICA dump Rock, claiming that he had a lot of influence on the band’s sound.
