Katie Couric faces reaction from “conservative” Jeopardy audiences because of comments on “cult of Trump”

Katie Couric recently spoke about the impeachment of Donald Trump and the ban on Twitter, before the incumbent president stepped down.

And the acclaimed journalist is now facing adverse reactions from Jeopardy’s most “conservative” audience, before her show as a host.

It came after she appeared in the first 2021 episode of Real Time with Bill Maher last week, where they discussed extremist beliefs in Congress after the Capitol riot earlier this month.

The 64-year-old man said to Maher: ‘It’s really bizarre, isn’t it, when you think about how many of these members of Congress were eliminated.

“But I also think that some of them are believing in the garbage that is being fed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on the internet, by their constituents, and they believed that big lie.”

She continued, ‘And the question is how are we really going to almost deprogram these people who signed up for the Trump cult.’

Couric’s comments allegedly worried the producers of Jeopardy !, where she is preparing for a show as a week-long hostess, making her the first woman to lead the game show.

With an audience whose average age is 64.2 years, demographics have traditionally been conservative, and the program has made an effort to avoid politics.

A source told Page Six: ‘Katie’s comments right after she was announced as a host are very worrying for producers. They are concerned that there will be a reaction against it. There have already been some complaints.

‘Jeopardy’s viewers are a very traditional group, and there are fears that she may be too polarizing after that. At the very least, she already seems to have ruled out becoming the program’s permanent presenter.

Fox News contributor Joe Concha, who took a strong stand against ‘culture cancellation’, recently spoke out against Couric.

He argued: ‘That kind of rhetoric by Couric – which seems so condescending and elitist – highlights the divide between our media, which resides mainly in New York and Washington, and the rest of the country, which is moderated to center-right by various polls . And that is why the industry is so suspicious and frowned upon. ‘

Following the death of beloved host Alex Trebek in November, the show is hosting a host of guest hosts, including Mayim Bialik and Aaron Rodgers.

Trebek commented on the need not to be offensive in the past, telling Vulture in November 2018: ‘But one reason a host can succeed for a long time is not to offend. You saw this with Johnny Carson. He was smart enough to cover almost every potentially offensive moment with his intelligence.
