Janet Jackson: College gymnast Margzetta Frazier received a surprise call from a pop star – and it was thrilling

In early February, the University of California athlete conquered the internet and scored an impressive 9,925 points out of 10 at the UCLA meeting against Brigham Young University, after incorporating some choreographies from Jackson’s video clips “Nasty” and “If”.

Frazier’s efforts did not go unnoticed – Jackson shared the 20-year-old athlete’s tweet about the clip, writing “#iLuvIT”.

Jackson, 54, surprised Frazier with a call from FaceTime, which was quite emotional.

“I would love to learn to trip someday. And if I do, I would love for you to teach me!” the pop star told Frazier in a video of the chat Jackson shared on Twitter over the weekend.

“I did this once in the ‘Pleasure Principle’ video, and the way it was shot, people didn’t think it was me, but it was me somersaulting backwards!”

During the call, Jackson – a pioneer artist in her own right – told Frazier that her performance brought her to tears and she was motivated to “do better and be stronger”.

“I just want to say thank you. Thank you for sharing your talent. It’s so beautiful to see it fall. Really inspiring,” Jackson told Frazier on the FaceTime call. “I loved it. I absolutely loved it.”

Jackson ended by telling Frazier that she could have her work stopped teaching the pop star to fall, “I’m going to be a mess, a hot mess!”

Wiping the tears away, Frazier thanked the singer for her kind words, saying that they meant “everything” to her.
