Deshaun Watson tweeted cryptic message after Texans allegedly hired Nick Caserio

Not everyone in Houston seems to be happy with the Texans’ decision to appoint longtime New England Patriots executive Nick Caserio as the new general manager.

Several reports on Tuesday confirmed that the Texans reached an agreement to nominate Caserio for the post, after sacking Bill O’Brien in October.

TEXANS HIRE LONG-TERM EXECUTIVE PATRIOTS NICK CASERIO AS NEW GENERAL MANAGER: REPORT

The move seemed welcome by all, especially as it was Houston’s second attempt to block Caserio, but within hours of the news, Texas quarterback Deshaun Watson sent out an enigmatic tweet that seemed to express disappointment at the organization’s decision.

“Some things never change …” said the tweet.

In a busy news cycle, it is not clear what Watson was tweeting about, but the coincidence seems unlikely.

O’Brien, who served as head coach and GM before his resignation, was a former offensive coordinator for the Patriots. He was joined by Jack Easterby, who currently serves as executive vice president of football operations for the team, but previously worked alongside Bill Belichick in New England.

If Watson was talking about Caserio, it is clear that he does not believe that ties to the Patriots are the answers to Houston’s problems.

The Texans ended the 2020 season at the weekend with a 41-38 loss to the Tennessee Titans, closing with a sad 4-12 record.

Defensive side JJ Watt was heard apologizing to Watson after the game, telling the young caller that “we wasted one of his years”.

Watson ended the league’s lead at 4,823 passing yards, with 33 touchdowns and just seven interceptions. He also had 444 yards on the ground with three more scores.
