Demonstration of the impressive fan-made Metroid Prime 2D game launched

Prime 2D - Nintendo Life IMGNintendo Life

Nintendo made the difficult decision in early 2019 to restart development of Metroid Prime 4 with the help of Retro Studios. Since then (and even before), there has been very little activity in front of Metroid.

Fortunately, there is a fan base passionate about Metroid and a talented group of developers known as “Team SCU” has been working hard on a 2D version of the hit GameCube, Metroid Prime. Although it was originally thought to be a joke, it is actually real.

Is called 2D Prime – with the other part of the name removed for obvious reasons, and the first demo just went live.

“Hello everyone! The time has finally come for the first Prime 2D public demonstration. When we first posted it, this post was the April Fool’s page with fake screenshots, hiding the fact that it was actually our real demo, but we can clean up that joke now that April 1st is over. “

SCU also notes how this project is “done by fans for the sole purpose of having fun” and says that “all aspects of this demo are subject to change” and may not necessarily reflect the final version.

The demo itself gives players the opportunity to explore Tallon Overworld, including the Artifact Temple and Chozo Ruins, and includes a range of skills and power-ups, such as the Morph Ball. There is also 360-degree targeting, the ability to scan the environment and, apparently, a little more after the credits.
