Cuomo’s new defense lawyer said Mia Farrow ‘implanted’ allegations of abuse against Woody Allen

Newly appointed defense attorney for the governor of New York, Andrew Cuomo, once said that actress Mia Farrow “implanted” her daughter Dylan’s sexual assault allegation against her adoptive father, Woody Allen. Wall Street Newspaper reported on Monday that defense lawyer Elkan Abramowitz would be hired by Cuomo, while he faces investigations into how he handled state nursing homes in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic and claims to have sexually harassed two aides. Abramowitz, however, has a story representing those accused of sexual abuse, representing Allen after Dylan Farrow went public in 2014 with his allegations that the actor-director had molested her when he was 7 years old. Allen denied these charges and did not face criminal charges. “The idea that (Dylan) was molested was implanted by his mother, and that memory will never go away,” said Abramowitz. Both Dylan and Mia Farrow denied these charges, and the prosecutor who refused to charge Allen said there was no evidence that Farrow had been trained. Abramowitz also represented disgraced Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein, according to The New York Times, and is a longtime friend and former donor to the Manhattan District Attorney, Cyrus Vance.

Cuomo is accused of unwanted sexual advances in relation to two aides, Lindsey Boylan and Charlotte Bennett. On Monday, New York Attorney General Letitia James announced that her office had officially received a referral from Cuomo to investigate the allegations and that she would hire an outside law firm to do so. Bennett is hiring defense attorney Debra Katz, who represented Dr. Christine Blasey Ford after she accused now Supreme Court judge Brett Kavanaugh of sexual assault, the Times reported Monday. In a statement provided to The Daily Beast, Katz wrote that Bennett “will cooperate fully with the attorney general’s investigation.”
