The team announced that Indiana Pacers guard Caris LeVert is expected to fully recover after undergoing surgery to treat renal cell carcinoma of the left kidney.
The surgery was performed by Dr. Jason Sprunger at Community Hospital North in Indianapolis, and the team said that no further treatment is needed.
LeVert, who was acquired in the exchange of four teams that sent James Harden to the Nets and Victor Oladipo to the Rockets, will remain out indefinitely, the Pacers said.
The small mass in his kidney was discovered during a physical and medical testing team before the deal was finalized.
The Pacers office is committed to supporting and maintaining you throughout the process, with no set deadline for your return.
“I’ve always known Caris from a distance, I’ve never met him as a person,” Myles Turner, of Pacers, told ESPN. “I’ve always heard good things about him, obviously as a basketball player and as an individual, so I think that’s what we have in this culture. He’ll fit in perfectly whenever he goes, but now we’re not really concerned about basketball with him. We want him to keep fighting for it. I think it was a real victory for the organization. “
