Canadian TV reporter harassed during filming segment

Canadian police are investigating after a TV reporter was harassed by a man who launched a vulgar comment against her while she was filming a segment.

Krista Sharpe, a reporter for the Canadian broadcaster CTV, was filming in the city of Kitchener, Ontario, when a driver shouted “fuck her in the py” from the car window before speeding out.

The journalist shared the footage on Twitter on Monday, writing: “This is not funny and it is not cool.”

“As much as I would love to say that it doesn’t bother me, it does. It makes me feel like shit, ”she wrote.

Sharpe said the harassment was especially worrying because she used to work alone, adding, “It still happens to reporters everywhere and it needs to stop.”

The Waterloo Regional Police responded to Sharpe’s tweet, saying the officers would be investigating the matter.

“We are sorry to see this @KristajSharpe. It is totally unacceptable ”, wrote the department.

Waterloo regional police chief Bryan Larkin said the footage, which has since been shared thousands of times, can be presented as evidence, CBC said.

“This incident is unacceptable, vulgar and offensive. No one should be subjected to hate and intimidation in the workplace ”, Larkin tweeted.
