Buffalo Allina sniper detonated 2 bombs and called 911 against himself

The sniper at the Allina Health clinic in Buffalo, Minnesota, allegedly detonated two bombs and shot five people, killing one, before calling 911, the charges say.

Gregory Ulrich, 67, of Buffalo was charged Thursday with second-degree murder, four counts of attempted first-degree murder and one charge of criminal use of an explosive device and possession of a firearm for the incident Tuesday morning at Buffalo Crossroads clinic. Ulrich made his first appearance in court on Thursday morning, when a judge set his bail at $ 10 million. His next court hearing is scheduled for late March.

According to the charges, Ulrich took public transport to the motel clinic where he was staying. When he arrived, the clinic staff asked him if he could help him. He responded by pulling a gun and threatening people.

An investigation into the incident showed that he shot his first two victims in the reception area, where he also shot in the front windows of the facility and detonated a bomb.

Then, the accusations say he moved into the clinic, where he shot three more people. One of the subsequent victims was shot six times, but survived. The fifth person he shot died from her injuries Tuesday night. She was identified on Wednesday as 37-year-old Lindsay Overbay. The other four victims of the shooting were hospitalized.

He detonated another bomb inside the clinic. A third bomb was not detonated.

According to the police, Ulrich called 911 while at the clinic and said “make the cops back and he would surrender”.

Upon arriving, the police found him lying on the floor with open arms. He was arrested and detained.

During an investigation by Ulrich’s cell phone by investigators, they found a “disconnected video message that alluded to an incident at the clinic.”
