Bruce Springsteen: Jeep pulls Super Bowl ad after news of singer’s arrest for reckless driving

Bruce Springsteen’s Super Bowl ad for Jeep was temporarily removed by the automaker after news that he was arrested last year for alleged DWI and reckless driving.

According to officials from the National Parks Service, Springsteen was arrested on November 14, 2020 in the Gateway National Recreation Area in his home state of New Jersey.

Springsteen received three quotes: DWI, reckless driving and alcohol consumption in an enclosed area, a spokesman said The Independent in a statement.

The musician cooperated throughout the process.

The Independent contacted Springsteen representatives for comment.

According TMZ, the singer has an audience scheduled for the court in the coming weeks.

The news comes three days after Springsteen appeared in a high-profile Jeep ad during the Super Bowl.

The announcement marked Springsteen’s first commercial endorsement in his career.

Entitled “The Middle”, it is narrated by the musician, who calls for an end to divisions in America.

“Fear was never the best of us,” says Springsteen in the clip. “And as for freedom, it is not the property of just a fortunate few. It belongs to all of us. Whoever you are, wherever you come from, is what connects us, and we need that connection. We need the medium.”

A Jeep spokesman said The Independent in a statement that the company is pausing the ad for now.

Springsteen’s most recent album, Letter to you, was released in October 2020. The album marks its first full release with the E Street Band since 2014, and is a continuation of its 2019 Western stars.
