Kelly Oubre shook off the “noise” and delivered her career record of 40 points in the Warriors’ 147-116 victory over the Dallas Mavericks on Thursday night.
Bradley Beal, who was Oubre’s teammate in the 2015-18 Washington Wizards, shared his excitement about Oubre’s first 40-point NBA game on social media.
Former warrior Nick Young also shouted Oubre for the big night, hoping that everyone who has criticized the attacker will maintain the same energy.
Oubre had a historically bad offensive start with the Warriors, especially on 3-point terrain. He was shooting just 23.1% behind the hoop in five attempts per game before Thursday night’s game.

The 25-year-old took down seven of his 10 strokes from the city center, looking completely offensive and in control of the Mavericks. Coach Steve Kerr said after the victory that he and the Warriors knew Oubre was capable of this and were eager to see it manifest in Dallas.

Oubre also joined an exclusive club, becoming the fifth Warrior to score 40 or more points under Kerr, joining Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Kevin Durant and D’Angelo Russell.
An explosion like this cannot be expected from Oubre every night, but performance can be a turning point for the attacker and his confidence in the offensive attack.
The Mavericks will certainly have some adjustments ready to defend Oubre when the two teams meet again on Saturday night.
