Bexar County homeowners affected by the winter storm can now apply for Federal Disaster Assistance

Bexar County owners and residents in 77 other designated counties that were affected by this week’s devastating winter storm can now apply for federal assistance with the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

This came after President Joe Biden partially approved Governor Abbott’s request for a major disaster declaration. The approval was announced on Saturday afternoon.

According to the authorities, if you have insurance and are requesting assistance in the event of a disaster, you should also file a claim with your insurer as soon as possible.

By law, FEMA cannot double the benefits for losses covered by insurance. If the insurance does not cover all of your damages, you may be eligible for federal assistance.
