Belgian politician caught wearing underwear during a live broadcast interview

One of Belgium’s most powerful politicians was caught with his pants down – with a mirror catching him in his underwear during an interview broadcast live from his home.

Antwerp Mayor Bart De Wever, who is the head of the New Flemish Alliance (N-VA) breakaway party, was about four minutes into his New Year’s video interview with Radio 2 when host Kim Debrie noticed his unexpected costume below the waist, the station said.

“I’m a little distracted,” said the host suddenly with a chuckle.

“You are wearing a very nice top, you probably wore it especially for us. But underneath that blouse: could you be there in your underwear? ” she asked.

After initially looking puzzled by the way she knew, the mayor noticed that a mirror behind him handed it over unexpectedly and, with a serious face, deliberately pointed his phone to give a clear view of his accident.

“I hadn’t taken that into account. The year starts with a particularly embarrassing moment, I will remember that for a long time, ”he said, according to the Brussels Times.

His political rival, Georges-Louis Bouchez, quickly played with him, tweeting the photo of a boxer shorts adorned with the flag of Belgium.

“I have a New Year’s gift for you,” he wrote, along with a winking emoji.
