Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson ruled out against Buffalo Bills with concussion

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson was dropped in the fourth quarter after suffering a concussion in the AFC division playoff game on Saturday in Buffalo.

In the final play of the third quarter, Jackson’s head snapped back and hit the lawn in the final zone of Bills Stadium, after throwing the ball away and receiving a blow from the defensive side of Bills, Trent Murphy. Jackson immediately grabbed his helmet with both hands after hitting the ground. He then raised his hands in frustration as he headed for the locker room with a coach.

Jackson was signaled for intentional background in the play.

Rookie Tyler Huntley replaced him with the Ravens with 17-3. Ravens’ other defenders – Robert Griffin III and Trace McSorley – are currently on reserve due to injuries.

His injury came two moves after Jackson launched only the second-six choice of his career. After driving to Buffalo’s 9-yard line, Jackson looked at tight end Mark Andrews and was eliminated in the red zone for the first time.

Taron Johnson overtook Jackson and returned the interception 101 yards for the touchdown. Instead of potentially drawing the game, the Ravens were left behind by two touchdowns.

Jackson finished 14 out of 24 for 162 passing yards and managed just 34 yards on nine loads. It is the third smallest running yard since taking over from Baltimore in the middle of the 2018 season.
