Democratic MP Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez shot Republican MP Nancy Mace back on Saturday – after learning that the latter launched a fundraising effort linked to a disagreement the two had over their experiences during the Capitol rebellion on 6 December. January.
“Very horrible,” the New York Congresswoman tweeted on Saturday as she shared images – previously posted by CNN reporter Daniel Dale – of Mace’s fundraising appeal that disputes Ocasio-Cortez’s account of the attack.

The dispute between the two congressmen started after Ocasio-Cortez detailed the events of the riot from his perspective in a live Instagram broadcast broadly aired on Monday.
During his report, Ocasio-Cortez told his followers that he was frightened by his life and forced to take refuge in his bathroom when a stranger entered his office, who later turned out to be a Capitol Police officer.
Mace, a South Carolina representative, quickly criticized the Ocasio-Cortez story. “My office is 2 doors down. The rebels never invaded our corridor,” Mace tweeted on Wednesday.
After facing Ocasio-Cortez’s reaction, who accused Mace of despising his fear and attacking her for “Fox News clicks”, Mace responded again.
“We were ALL terrified that day. I am stating the fact that the rebels were never in our corridor … because they were not. I deal with the facts. Unlike you, apparently,” she tweeted.
Ocasio-Cortez’s message to Mace on Saturday that she “intentionally hurt another woman and survivors” comes after the congresswoman revealed that she is a sexual assault survivor on Monday.

Speaking earlier this week, Ocasio-Cortez accused the Republican Congresswoman of despising her story and using damaging rhetoric that prevents assault or trauma survivors from presenting themselves.
“How many survivors are watching you? Who now, on seeing you, will not care or feel more shame or silence? Who will not speak up because they know that there are voices in leadership ready to minimize their experiences?” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted.
But Mace rejected that accusation and criticized Ocasio-Cortez for making the disagreement “political”. In 2019, Mace herself revealed that she was the victim of rape when she was 16.
The images that Ocasio-Cortez shared from Mace’s fundraising message on Saturday recount the Republican legislature’s accusations and say that Ocasio-Cortez wants to “further divide Americans”.
“AOC does not want to find common ground. It wants to divide Americans even more.”
“This is exactly what she did with her divisive comments about the Capitol riot. And this is what she continues to do, chasing me for pointing out the simple truth that there was never a single troublemaker in our corridor, ”according to the message.
“Today, I want you to join me and many across our country who are saying ENOUGH IS ENOUGH for the latest AOC stagings. You will contribute today to help me spread the word,” he added.
Newsweek contacted the Ocasio-Cortez and Mace offices for additional comments, but did not receive a response in time for publication.
