A car fell off the I-205 bridge on Sunday, the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office maritime patrol investigating

A car crashed from the Glenn L. Jackson Memorial Bridge and the Columbia River on Sunday night, leading to a search effort for the Marine Patrol Unit of the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office.

The vehicle was discovered, but the divers had not entered the water to search until 8:25 pm, said Portland Fire & Rescue spokesman Tremaine Clayton.

The vehicle was supposedly traveling south on the extension of Interstate 205 that connects Oregon and Washington. The spokesman for the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office, the sergeant. Brandon Pedro said that the navy unit was dispatched to the bridge’s middle span.

The cold weather and snow that covered the Portland area prompted Oregon Department of Transportation officials to ask drivers to stay home on Sunday. Agency officials advised drivers to monitor TripCheck before taking risks on icy roads.

The National Weather Service predicts freezing rain throughout the Portland area at night.
