YouTube star James Charles has denied accusations that he has prepared a fan who was underage. In a long demonstration, the 21-year-old said he wanted to resolve the situation “immediately” after a TikTok user posted now deleted videos that claimed Charles was sending him sexual messages and nude photos via Snapchat. When the boy told Charles he was just 16, he says the beauty blogger continued to ask for pictures of her body.
But Charles denied the teenager’s story, claiming that he only started flirting with him after he said he was 18. “In the excitement of meeting someone that I thought could be potentially great, I didn’t ask for a copy of their identity or passport,” Charles wrote. When the boy admitted that he was 16, Charles said he was “very uncomfortable” and apologized for flirting with him.
“After making false claims like that in the past, I would never intentionally get involved with anyone under the age of 18 and put my life on the line for some Snapchats,” he wrote. “I know I’m going to ask to see the identity or passport of each guy I have a conversation with.” The accuser told Insider that Charles “lied in his tweet”, claiming that he never said he was 18 and that his TikTok biography lists his age.
Charles had previously been accused of sending unsolicited nude photos to heterosexual men in 2019 and faced similar charges again in January.
