Wuhan returns to normal while the rest of the world fights against COVID-19

Wuhan, the Chinese industrial city where the coronavirus was first detected, has returned to normal while the rest of the world struggles with the pandemic.

Residents of the city of 11 million were running and practicing tai chi in a park, many without face shields, last week.

Wuhan was responsible for most of the 4,635 deaths in China, but has been outbreak-free since the blockade was lifted in April, according to the Associated Press.

China has announced another 107 cases of coronavirus, bringing the total infections to almost 89,000 since the pandemic began. More than two million people worldwide died of COVID-19, according to the latest statistics compiled by Johns Hopkins University.

After lengthy negotiations, China gave permission last week for the World Health Organization to send a team of international experts to start investigations into the origins of the virus. A group of experts linked to WHO criticized China for failing to act quickly enough to deal with the pandemic.
