A young Israeli woman who was recently crowned the “most beautiful” in the world said she had no idea that she was being considered for the international award.
Yael Shelbia, 19, took first place on TC Candler’s most recent list of “100 Most Beautiful Faces of the Year”, claiming the tribute was a shock.

“I was very surprised, I didn’t even know I was participating in this contest,” said the teenager in an interview with The Sun on Thursday. “It is very exciting and flattering. I don’t know why they chose me, I think beauty is so individual and all women are beautiful.”

The blue-eyed beauty grew up in a large orthodox Jewish family in northern Israel and moved to Tel Aviv to pursue her dreams of becoming a model. From the top of the TC list, Shelbia said she has since gained 200,000 new followers on Instagram, where fans can find photos of her model work and daily life, as well as photos of her in military uniform. According to the vehicle, Shelbia was doing his mandatory military service in the Israeli Air Force when he won the title last month.
“It is an honor for me to serve my country, I have many responsibilities as an IDF soldier and public figure,” explained Shelbia. “It was very important for me to try to combine work and service.”

The model, who has starred in campaigns for KKW Beauty by Kim Kardashian and Kylie Skin by Kylie Jenner, also confirmed that she is dating Brandon Korff, 36-year-old grandson of the late billionaire Sumner Redstone, former president of CBS Corp. and Viacom Inc.
Korff must be in love with his girlfriend, as he was deported from Israel in June for violating coronavirus quarantine rules to visit his girlfriend, the Times of Israel reported. In addition, Shelbia said her boyfriend supports her success in the spotlight.
“We have been together for a year,” she revealed. “He is very happy for me.”

Lately, Shelbia has also been compared to Thylane Blondeau, also 19, who rose to stardom when she was named the “most beautiful girl in the world” at the age of 6. Shelbia calls it a compliment.
“I think she is amazing and so beautiful!” she said of the French model, adding that she is excited to make her own way.
In a beauty tip that anyone can relate to, Shelbia said she believes true grace comes from within.
“I think what makes a person beautiful is being kind, humble and, above all, positive,” suggested Shelbia. “When you’re good, it really shows in your eyes and your eyes never lie.”
