The masked singer judges are not known for their hunches with eagle ears. Of course, Ken Jeong intentionally (?) Guess celebrities who would never compete in this Fox singing competition, even if they could retain the mask after being eliminated, but Jenny McCarthy, Nicole Scherzinger and Robin Thicke are not much better – however, they remain being called back season after season. During the initial round of divination after Phoenix’s horrific performance of Kesha’s “TiK ToK”, the entire panel picked up on clues that indicated the singer was a member of the LGBTQ + community. At the time, the judges secretly wrote their “first impression guesses” before publicly discussing other options. Among the assumptions discussed were RuPaul, Jane Lynch and Caitlyn Jenner.
Later in the episode, when Phoenix viewers went out and kept Black Swan (maybe Demi Lovato or teen pop sensation JoJo), Leitão (definitely Nick Lachey), Grandpa’s Monster (possibly John Travolta, but probably someone younger) and Chameleon (honestly I have no idea). Just before Phoenix was unmasked, guest presenter Niecy Nash—replacing Nick Cannon COVID positive– revealed the judges’ written assumptions:

Robin Thicke: Laverne Cox

Jeong finally changed his hunch to RuPaul and Scherzinger decided it was actually Jonathan Van Ness.
