What’s being said nationally about Michigan QB Joe Milton entering the transfer portal

Another Michigan scholarship quarterback entered the transfer portal under Jim Harbaugh.

Joe Milton became sixth when he announced on Thursday that he was transferring.

The 1.8m tall, 243-pounder started the season as a starter and had a strong performance in the team’s first game against Minnesota, but regressed in the next five. In its last four games, the Florida four-star prospect has completed just 33 of 68 passes for 552 yards, three touchdowns and four interceptions.

Milton was pulled on November 21 against Rutgers and then made three raised passes on November 28 against Penn State. He ended the 80-for-141 season by moving to 1,077 yards, four touchdowns and four interceptions. He also totaled 109 running yards and a score.

Milton, who has three years of remaining eligibility, joins Dylan McCaffrey, Brandon Peters, Wilton Speight, Alex Malzone and Shane Morris as a quarterback with a transfer scholarship under Harbaugh. Speight was a three-star candidate when he left high school, while the other four were four-star.

Milton’s departure gives way to second-year redshirt Cade McNamara, who started the team’s final game against the PSU, and to the true freshman JJ McCarthy, a five-star recruit, to fight for his first job.
