‘Weird Al’ Yankovic reconnected with his passion in ninth grade and was very cute

As shy as he was, Yankovic said one day that he decided to make his “big move”, which for the “White & Nerdy” singer meant a drawing by Patrice and a plan to give it to her. But, like every classic weird teen romance story ever told, he performed his skillful maneuver in the most awkward way possible. “Because I didn’t want to give her the impression that I LIKED her or anything, I also drew ALL PEOPLE IN CLASS and distributed them too, just to keep her from the smell,” he explained, admitting that he tried to make her look ” a little better “than everyone else’s, just to keep things super subtle.

“Anyway, everyone seemed to like his drawings and, as you may have predicted, my love life remained completely asleep for the next few years,” he joked. Go 50 years later and Al said he was checking his Twitter feed and saw a woman talking about how she used to sit in front of him in ninth grade math class. “Being a little less shy at my current advanced age, I decided to follow the following: I mentioned her and asked if by chance her name was Patrice. It turns out it was. It was her – my 9th year crush” he said.

“I then went on and asked, ‘Hey, do you happen to remember that time I did drawings of everyone in the class?’ A minute later, she sent me this photo. She saved you all these years. I just wanted to tell this story because, well … 2020 was certainly a very bad year overall, but there were some real moments of joy sprinkled here and there – and for me, this was definitely one of them. “
