WATCH: Wonder Woman 1984 Launches Retro Credits Sequence

A new opening sequence for Wonder Woman 1984 was posted online, which pays homage to the 1977 series Lynda Carter.

A new sequence of opening credits for Wonder Woman 1984 was launched, in honor of 1977 Wonder Woman television series starring Lynda Carter.

Amending the Wonder Woman Theme of the TV series about scenes from the film, the sequence also features transitions from animation to live action for certain sequences, as well as the cast of the film. Gadot still has a chance to make his own version of Carter’s classic spinning transformation.

The sequel also features Carter herself in a “cameo.” During a post-credit streak, Carter appeared as Asteria – an Amazon warrior who was thought to be dead, but who lived among humanity like Diana. Asteria saves a young mother from being crushed by a falling telephone pole and, when asked how she did it, replies, “I have been doing this for a long time.” The line serves as a reference to its Amazonian longevity and Carter’s association with paper.

Wonder Woman 1984 made its debut in theaters and on HBO Max last Christmas, leading to the announcement that Warner Bros. would debut its entire list of 2021 films on HBO Max as well as in theaters. The film itself received mixed reviews, but it was an amazing streaming success.

Directed and co-written by Patty Jenkins, Wonder Woman 1984 stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Kristen Wiig, Pedro Pascal and Natasha Rothwell. The film arrives digitally on March 16 and in 4K UHD, Blu-ray and DVD on March 30.
