Before the coronavirus set 2020, this rich people shit was a direct gift from 2019. In the Netflix’s trailer Operation Varsity Blues: The College Admissions Scandal, the documentary (from the same team that brought us wrecks from assistive trains Fira and Tiger King) is less about the celebrities linked to the coup and more about the mentor, Rick Singer, who has had a prolific career in bribing elite universities with “side door” offers to gain admission to the children of his wealthy clients. For the first time, this documentary will feature the real FBI tapped conversations between Singer (played with modesty by Matthew Modine) and his millionaires, which include jewelry like “Is there any risk that this thing will explode in my face?” and “You never had a problem with that, like, did any article come out that the polo team is selling places for school?” Ah, we were also young and naive once. Operation Varsity Blues will debut on March 17th.
