Olivia Rodrigo joined The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon to give his television debut of his hit ‘Driver’s License’.
Rodrigo performed the music playing the piano under a rotating searchlight, accompanied by a string section, giving the music a more orchestral touch than the original.
Rodrigo’s Fall over apparition marks his first public performance of the song since its release last month. See below:
‘Drivers License’ was an almost instant success after its release, breaking several Spotify streaming records. It currently holds the record for most music streams in a single week on the platform (over 80 million), as well as the record for most single-day streams of non-holiday music.
Speaking for NME about the success of the song, Rodrigo said: “I mean, that’s all … All the recognition that music has is beyond my dreams.”
“Taylor Swift – she is my songwriter idol and I wouldn’t be half the woman and a songwriter I am today without her – reached out and supported the music a lot,” she continued.
“I found out the other day that Lorde likes it, Halsey likes it, all these people I grew up listening to are saying they are enjoying the music.”
The song is still at the top of the UK and US charts, and recently received a stripped-down cover from Yungblud.
