The Washington Post is the latest popular media to raise the alarm about the ongoing crisis on the southern border, telling readers that President Biden may face political consequences as a result.
While the White House continues to resist describing the wave of migrants trying to enter the United States as a “crisis”, the Post published a report on Monday with the headline: “Biden faces a growing political threat from border unrest” .
The report cited Congressman Henry Cuellar, D-Texas, whose district borders Mexico and has been a staunch critic of the way the Biden government is handling the situation.
“Your people need to do a better job of listening to those of us who have done this before,” Cuellar told the Post.

The newspaper then outlined the concerns that Biden should expect on both sides of the corridor as the crisis continues.
“Center Democrats are nervous about attacks that regard them as mild in border security. Liberals and immigration activists are warning about how migrants are treated. And Republicans are increasingly laying the groundwork for immigration-focused attacks in elections. half-term, “reported the Post.
“Republicans are going to turn around and use this as a political weapon against Democrats – that we are weak on the border, we are not doing enough, we are letting everyone in,” Cuellar explained to the Post. “I’ve been warning the party and the administration: don’t let this get out of hand, because all you’re going to do is give Republicans a problem.”

The Post also warned that voters may not be convinced that former President Donald Trump should be blamed for the current crisis, as White House press secretary Jen Psaki suggested on Monday.
“The president is getting high marks from most Americans for his efforts to reduce the coronavirus pandemic, including a $ 1.9 trillion relief account,” the article continued. “It left Republicans struggling to find a potent issue as they seek to retake the House and Senate in 2022. Many Republicans believe that immigration may be that topic.”
