“I believe in Walter Hamada and that he did not prevent or interfere with the investigation,” WarnerMedia President and CEO Ann Sarnoff said in a statement. “Furthermore, I have complete confidence in the process and the findings of the investigation. Walter is a respected leader, known to his colleagues, colleagues and me as a man of great character and integrity. As I said in the recent announcement of the extension of the Walter, I am excited about the place where he is taking DC Films and looking forward to working with him and the rest of the team to build DC Multiverse. “
The dispute between Fisher and Warners goes back to July 1, 2020, when the actor claimed on Twitter that director and screenwriter Joss Whedon had abused the set of Justice League. Whedon took control of the film after Zack Snyder stepped down because of a family tragedy. Fisher also said that producers Geoff Johns and Jon Berg, who were co-chairs of Warners’ DC Films division, allowed Whedon’s alleged behavior. Whedon, Johns and Berg did not comment.
The two parties have fought via Twitter and company statements since then, even when an investigation was launched in August and entered the fall. Things got more tense when, on September 4, Warner Bros. released a statement alleging that Fisher was not cooperating with the third-party investigators investigating these allegations. Fisher denied this in a statement of his own and later found support from Justice League co-star Jason Momoa.
It is not clear when the investigation was officially completed, but on November 24, Whedon announced that he was moving away from The Nevers, a program he had created for WarnerMedia’s HBO division. WarnerMedia announced the conclusion of the investigation on December 11, saying that “corrective action” had been taken.
Far from being quiet, Fisher reopened an offensive against Hamada at the turn of the year and continued on Wednesday, accusing the executive of trying to “to cover” for Johns.
“I claim that Walter Hamada is not suitable for a leadership position – and I am willing, at any time, to undergo a polygraph test to support my claims against him,” Fisher wrote in a long post on Twitter. “I don’t know how many cases of abuse in the workplace Walter tried to cover in the past, but I hope the Justice League the investigation will be the last. “
WarnerMedia issued a separate statement, in addition to Sarnoff, who summarized his side of the process. He said his “extensive” investigation was “conducted by an outside law firm, led by a former federal judge who assured WarnerMedia that there were no impediments to the investigation” and that the company was failing to give Fisher a chance to repeat The cyborg’s role in a future Snapshot film, “given his declaration that he will not participate in any film associated with Mr. Hamada”; and who continues to work with Johns, who is executive producer on programs like Star – Space, and Doom Patrol, among others.
