Warner Bros. Dates ‘Furiosa’, musical ‘The Color Purple’ for 2023

The live-action animation hybrid ‘Coyote vs. Acme ‘has also been defined.

Warner Bros. dated three new features for 2023, including the Mad Max: Fury Road by-product Angry and The purple color musical.

George Miller will write and direct the prequel film Angry, which is set for June 23, 2023.

Anya Taylor-Joy will star in the lead role, played by Charlize Theron in the 2015 blockbuster, along with Chris Hemsworth and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II. Miller and Doug Mitchell will produce.

The adaptation of the musical The purple color will hit theaters on December 20, 2023.

The film is based on the Tony Award winning Broadway musical, itself based on the Alice Walker novel. Blaz Bazawule, the helm behind Beyoncé Black is king, will direct with Oprah Winfrey producing under his Harpo Films banner, Steven Spielberg under Amblin Entertainment, Scott Sanders and Quincy Jones.

The hybrid of live-action animation Coyote vs. Acme, based on the classic animated character Looney Toons, was dated July 21, 2023.

The Warner Animation Group project will be directed by Dave Green from a script by James Gunn, Jeremy Slater, Jon Silberman, Josh Silberman and Samy Burch. Also based on fiction New Yorker article from the magazine “Coyote v. Acme, ”the film will be produced by Chris DeFaria and James Gunn will produce.

Warner Media, the parent company of Warner Bros., made a splash this month when it was announced that the entire studio project for 2021 would be released in theaters and on HBO Max, domestically. When the announcement was made, Ann Sarnoff, CEO of WarnerMedia Studios and Networks Group, called the film a “one-year plan”.
