“WandaVision” director Matt Shakman said that Elizabeth Olsen gave feedback on her Scarlet Witch costume when she first tried it out to make sure it was functional.

“She is so practical that she immediately put it on and said, ‘OK, I can make this move and I cannot make this move. And I need to be able to make this move,'” said Shakman in an interview with Entertainment Tonight this week.

“We were like, ‘Great!’ So we have to do a reengineering, because these suits are difficult “, continued the director.” I mean, one thing is to look incredible. Another thing is to really work. “

Olsen’s character, Wanda Maximoff, first appeared during the final credits scene for “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” in 2014.

The character made her Marvel debut in 2015’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron”, but was never mentioned by her comic book superhero name.

The sixth episode of “WandaVision” showed the titular heroine wearing an exact Scarlet Witch costume from comics, although she said she was pretending to be a “Sokovian psychic” on Halloween.

In the penultimate episode of the series, Wanda finally got her comic book name, Scarlet Witch.

And in the end, which was released on Disney Plus on Friday, Wanda totally transformed herself into the Scarlet Witch after an explosion of chaos magic during a fight with Agatha Harkness.

Olsen’s impressive dark red suit was sneakily provoked in a promotional poster for “WandaVision”. The silhouette was shown during episode eight. Fans were able to see all the glory of the outfit at the end.

Viewers also pointed out that the suit had nods to the pattern on the cover of Vision and the mind stone.

The color scheme and style of the outfit are also reminiscent of Michael Fassbender’s Magneto costume in the “X-Men” films. In the comics, Magneto is Wanda’s father.

Shakman told ET that, as Olsen spent years portraying Wanda and wearing different iterations of his superhero outfit, she knew exactly where adjustments needed to be made so that she could move properly.

“She is so skilled at physical work – she is beyond expert in all parts of her work – so she quickly figured out how it would work,” he said.

Olsen had already discussed the evolution of his clothes. In an interview with Elle in 2018, she expressed dissatisfaction with how revealing the corset she had to wear in “Avengers: Infinity War”.

“I like corsets, but I would like it to be taller,” the actress told Elle about the low neckline of her costume.

Olsen said that his Marvel co-stars Tessa Thompson (Valkyrie) and Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow / Natasha Romanoff) wore clothes that were not so revealing.

“I would like to cover a little,” she said. “It’s funny because sometimes I look around and I’m like – wow, I’m the only one with a cleavage, and that’s a constant joke because they haven’t really evolved my superhero costume.”
