Virginia State Police Arrest Suspects in South Carolina Homicide After I-81 Pursuit: Augusta Free Press

Three suspects wanted in a homicide investigation in Anderson, SC, are in custody after a chase on Interstate 81 in Shenandoah County.

A Virginia State Police officer observed the suspect’s vehicle, a 2014 Ford Fusion, traveling north on Interstate 81 at the 283-mile mark in Shenandoah County at around 1pm on Friday.

The soldier waited for additional soldiers and initiated a traffic stop. The suspect’s vehicle stopped on the right shoulder and then accelerated at high speed.

A chase has started.

During the course of the chase, the Ford Fusion ended up going south on the northern tracks. The driver lost control at the 309-mile mark in Frederick County, and the Fusion got off the left side of the road and went down an embankment, went through a fence and hit a tree.

The suspects then fled the vehicle on foot.

All three suspects were arrested shortly afterwards, without further incident.

The driver, Frank T. Rhoads, 39, of Anderson, SC, suffered minor injuries during the incident and was transported to Winchester Medical Center for treatment.

Rhoads was then transported to the Northwest Regional Adult Detention Center and charged by the Virginia State Police with a crime for misleading the police, reckless driving and for altering / fictitious vehicle license plates.

The two Ford passengers, Dominick M. Rhoads, 19, and William C. Flynn, 31, both from Anderson, SC, were not injured during the incident.
All three suspects are being held on extradition warrants from Anderson, SC
