[VIDEO] Jimmy Fallon addresses the dance controversy Addison Rae TikTok

The Tonight Show Host Jimmy Fallon tried to fix a mistake by returning from the hiatus on Monday night.

In late March, Fallon welcomed social media influencer Addison Rae in his dawn series, where Rae performed eight choreographies that went viral on TikTok. The segment quickly drew reactions for its lack of credit to the original dance creators, many of whom are black artists, and viewers criticized Fallon for providing a platform for a white woman who already has a significant number of followers on social media.

But on Monday Tonight’s show episode, Fallon corrected the course by inviting the creators of five of these dances to the show, with each artist sharing how the dance originated before performing it themselves.

Although Fallon did not offer a formal apology for the initial segment with Rae, he said in Monday’s broadcast that “we recognize that the creators of these dances deserve to have their own spotlight.”

Fallon’s guests included Mya Nicole Johnson and Chris Cotter (who choreographed a dance for Cardi B’s “Up”), Dorien Scott (Popp Hunna’s “Adderall (Corvette Corvette)”), Fur-Quan Powell and Camyra Franklin (remix of “Laffy Taffy” from D4L “), Adam Snyder, Nate Nale and Greg Dahl (” Blinding Lights “from The Weeknd) and Keara Wilson (” Savage “from Megan Thee’s stallion).
