Victoria Beckham says an Elton John performance inspired her to ‘walk away’ from the Spice Girls

Victoria Beckham is looking at the moment when she realized it was time to part with the Spice Girls.

The 46-year-old star wrote a letter to her future self to British Vogue and in it, she reflected on a crucial moment in her career involving Elton John.

“Remember years ago, watching your dear friend Elton John on the stage in Las Vegas. He sang ‘Tiny Dancer’ as if it were the first time, and you realized it was like oxygen to him, ”she recalled. “It was a life-changing moment – although singing and dancing was fun for you, it was not your passion. That day, you started your quest to discover your own dreams.”

She added, “It was time to stop being a Spice Girl.”

The Spice Girls released several successful albums in the 1990s before each member, including Beckham, ventured into solo careers. Later, they returned together for a tour that started in late 2007.

Another meeting took place at the closing ceremony of the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. In 2019, the team started another reunion tour, but Beckham gave up. At the time, she said she felt “like a very different person” than she was when she was a Spice Girl.

For John, he had several residences in Las Vegas: including one from 2004-2009 and one from 2011-2018.

She added: “It was scary to end a chapter that defined you. I know you are still reinventing yourself, facing new challenges and ignoring those who speak out. You always look beyond conventional wisdom to open your own path.”
