Veteran reveals possible plan for former WWE champion to face Finn Balor at WrestleMania 37

Finn Balor is not only the current NXT champion, but also the first universal champion and one of the most talented athletes on the list.

Last week at SmackDown, the winner of the Royal Rumble Edge hinted that he will go after whoever the Universal Champion is after the Elimination Chamber. However, there is a possibility that Edge might actually face Finn Balor at WrestleMania.

Speaking on the Busted Open Radio podcast, Mark Henry said that Edge suggesting a program with Roman Reigns could be just ‘smoke and mirrors’, while in reality, he could go after the Finn Balor Championship of ‘The Prince of NXT’.

“But it could just be small talk. It could just be smoke and mirrors and mind games. He could easily go to NXT and say it would be Roman Reigns who I chose, but I chose you Finn. You have something you never had before.”

Mark Henry also said that it would be easy for Edge to go to NXT and help change the perception that it is just a developing brand and a notch below the other two programs.

The WWE Hall of Famer also stated that it believes the WWE is trying to establish that NXT is no longer just a developing brand and wants to change that perception among some fans.

Finn Balor is the NXT Champion and is considered to be at the same level as the WWE Champion of RAW or SmackDown’s Universal Champion by many fans. Last year, Charlotte Flair chose to face NXT female champion Rhea Ripley after winning the Royal Rumble. Therefore, it is possible for WWE to choose Edge to face Finn Balor to get more eyes on the Black and Gold brand.

Edge vs. Finn Balor at WrestleMania 37?

Edge visited NXT after winning the Royal Rumble and warned Finn Balor. However, it seemed like a unique appearance. Although, if The Rated-R Superstar decides to challenge Finn Balor to the NXT Championship, that would not only guarantee fans a stellar match, but would also take NXT to new heights.
