The Jacksonville Jaguars were reported to have hired former Ohio runner Carlos Hyde. The move will bring Hyde together with former Ohio State coach Urban Meyer.
Hyde signed a six-year contract worth six million to play for the Sunshine State, according to Ian Rapoport. He has been something of a newsboy during his seven-year career adapting to San Francisco, Cleveland, Houston, Seattle, and a period of eight games with Jacksonville in 2018.
Hyde’s best season came in 2019, when he was in Houston, where he ran 1,070 yards and six touchdowns at an average of 4.4 yards per transport. He will be struggling to make a comeback by starting running back James Robinson, who is coming out of a solid debut campaign.
Hyde still has gas in his tank. The former Buckeye did a good job of replacing a backfield riddled with Seahawk injuries last season.

It will be interesting to see how much loyalty Meyer has to former players. My guess is that everyone will be on an equal footing and no one will receive special treatment. If special treatment is given, I imagine that Meyer will not be left out for long.
We expect Hyde to have a positive impact on a team that needed some veteran leadership last year in a 1-15 season.
