Universal Studios Hollywood is moving fast in building its expansion of Super Nintendo World. Last month, we gave an update on the green mountains that are beginning to take shape in the lower lot at Universal Studios. Now we have a new update showing more green mountains and what appears to be the structure of Bowser’s castle that will be the entrance to Mario Kart’s tour! Let’s take a look!

Universal Studios Hollywood is currently closed due to pandemic regulations in the state of California. You can now visit CityWalk at the USH for take-away food (which cannot be eaten on the property) and a fun environment.

Thanks to Universal CityWalk being open, some theme park enthusiasts and Universal fans were able to get some amazing photos and videos of the ongoing construction of the Super Nintendo World in the lower lot. Here is a video of Theme Park Obsessed on Youtube that shows the new green mountains that have been added and the structure of Bowser Castle that is shaping up very well!
Filming for Super Nintendo World starts at 7 minutes, but it’s worth watching the entire video if you love Universal Studios Hollywood!
No word from Universal about when the Super Nintendo World expansion will open at Universal Studios Hollywood. However, comparing the progress of construction with the Super Nintendo World sibling at Universal Studios Japan, I would speculate that this project could take about a year before it opens.
This expansion will be a major draw for Universal Studios Hollywood, as they eventually reopen to the public. We have no indication of when Universal Studios Hollywood will open the theme park, but we hope to see it reopen in 2021 and have an opening date for the Super Nintendo World as well.
