TWST: Spinoff series ‘Green Arrow and the Canaries’ canceled

This time last year, fans were saying goodbye to Arrow, DC’s longtime flagship series on the CW. But many of us were excited about Green Arrow and the Canaries, a planned spinoff that debuted as a backdoor pilot episode in Arrowfinal season of.

But, unfortunately, the CW decided not to take the series. “They are in active discussions to see what we can do,” said CW President Mark Pedowitz, as the series could find a second life on HBO Max. “I had a lot of discussions with Warner Bros. we have a strategy involved – I hope we can do it. ” Still, it seems unlikely, as the merged contract options expired last year and still need to be renewed.

Green Arrow and the Canaries was a spinoff series centered on women set in 2040, which follows Oliver Queen’s daughter, Mia Queen / Green Arrow (Katherine McNamara), as she joins the Canaries Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy) and Dinah Drake (Juliana Harkavy). McNamara tweeted the news, saying he was “heartbroken” at the cancellation and thanked fans for their support.

With Supergirl going to his final season and Canary Islands cancellation, the DC series aimed at women are suffering. But with new series like Wonder Girl on the horizon, there is still hope that the future of the CW superheroine. And, of course, there is always HBO Max.
