Twitter can make tweets more stressful with new emoji reactions

Have you ever browsed Twitter and thought, “Could this site really use some Facebook-style emoji reactions”? Yes, I don’t either. However, the company has been researching users over the past month about this possibility, TechCrunch reports.

By screenshots of the survey that a Twitter user shared, the proposed emoji reactions may include the basics – a smiling face with tears, a thoughtful face, a crying face – and some more spicy variations – shocked faces, angry faces, fire emojis. They can also include a negative vote or an option of dislike.

A Twitter spokesman said The Verge, “We are exploring other ways for people to express themselves in conversations that take place on Twitter.” The spokesman emphasizes that the Twitter search is still in its early stages and noted that the emojis would exist beyond the current “heart” button, rather than replacing it.

The head of Twitter design also indicated that such features may arrive soon in some enigmatic tweets.

Neither the reactions of the emojis nor the negative votes would be a unique feature of Twitter. Facebook employs a set of the former, and the latter is a central feature of the comment sections on Reddit and YouTube. That said, Reddit and the comment sections tend to operate more anonymously than Twitter and Facebook, where users tend to exist and post as if they are public.

That’s why this ad is incredibly stressful for me. If I get negative votes on a random meme that I posted on Reddit from my completely anonymous account, I won’t blink twice – they are rejecting the meme, not me. But I can only imagine that a negative vote in a tweet, coming from my personal account with my name and photo attached, will be like a personal affront, and it will be embarrassing and devastating enough to get me off the site and force me to find alternative hobbies. . It doesn’t really matter. I am totally in favor of these resources.
