Mohr, a former canine policeman from Prince George County.

She was convicted after prosecutors said she shot one of the two men suspected of theft in Takoma Park, Maryland.

The White House issued a statement on Mohr’s forgiveness, saying his clemency is supported by the Law Enforcement Legal Defense Fund and the Fraternal Order of Police.

“She served 10 years in prison for freeing her partner K-9 from a suspected theft in 1995, resulting in a bite that required ten stitches,” the statement said. “Officer Mohr was a highly recommended member of the police force prior to her prosecution.”

The statement added that he recognized his service prior to the 1995 incident and acknowledged “the long term” that Mohr served in prison.

She was convicted during a period when the Department of Justice was investigating civil rights violations by the Prince George County Police Department and amid several lawsuits alleging excessive use of force by K-9 units of force.

Mohr’s first trial in 2001 ended with a standoff jury, followed by his conviction.
