Trump’s lawyer Michael van der Veen after the impeachment victory: ‘We’re going to Disney World’

Not only did they win the Super Bowl, but Donald Trump’s impeachment advocacy team seems to be feeling that way after getting a second acquittal from the former president.

“We’re going to Disney World,” Trump attorney Michael van der Veen joked to reporters, repeating a line uttered by a litany of Super Bowl MVPs since Giants quarterback Phil Simms first said this after the Big Blue victory in 1987.

TRUMP CELEBRATES AQUITALITY AT THE SENATE JUDGMENT, FUTURE POLITICAL PREFACE: ‘TOO MUCH TO SHARE’

Van der Veen said the phrase on leaving the Capitol, after the Senate voted 57-43 against the former commander-in-chief’s conviction on Saturday.

Van der Veen then punched a colleague while they continued walking.

Before leaving, the group of lawyers seemed cheerful when celebrating the victory. Everyone was seen posing for pictures and playing with each other.

Earlier in the day, Van der Veen argued in his closing arguments that Trump’s impeachment over a heated pre-riot speech would violate his First Amendment rights and called the process unconstitutional.

Two-thirds of the Senate, or 67 votes, was needed for sentencing. Only seven Republicans joined the Democrats in the vote to condemn, leaving them with 10 less.

A single impeachment article was filed against the former president while he was still in office, just a week after the January 6 riot on Capitol Hill, on charges of “inciting insurrection”.

The House voted 232-197 for Trump’s impeachment a week after the siege, in which five people died.
