Trump War Room shoots back to House Dem impeachment managers who used the rhetoric of ‘fighting like hell’ in the past

The Trump War Room is shooting back at the impeachment managers of House Democrats who were making their case against former President Donald Trump during the opening arguments of his trial.

On Wednesday, impeachment administrators spent hours trying to convince enough senators to condemn the former president that he incited the Capitol insurrection last month. Much of his argument was based on Trump’s rhetoric, including when he told his supporters on the National Mall on January 6 to “fight like hell”.

However, the Trump War Room turned the tide against Democrats, reliving several examples of them using the same language.

The Trump campaign account pointed to a “FLASHBACK” by Rep. Jamie Raskin, D-Md., The top impeachment manager, who said during a 2019 interview with The Atlantic that he would “fight like hell” for the Constitution over the subject the Supreme Court and the Judiciary controlled by conservatives.

A tweet made by Raskin in September 2020 urges his Twitter followers to “fight like hell” in the midst of the Supreme Court battle following the death of Judge Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

In 2017, Raskin said the same way: “We have to wake up every day and fight like hell for liberal democracy, not just in Maryland, not just in the United States, but around the world …”

During the Russian investigation, Raskin also tweeted: “This is our democracy – fight for it.”

Deputy Joe Neguse, D-Colorado, who was widely praised as the star of the impeachment trial, was similarly called by the Trump campaign for an April 2018 tweet announcing the endorsement of then Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif .

“Humiliated to have the support of a fearless leader as we struggle to retake Congress and make Colorado history!” Neguse exclaimed.

The War Room has repeatedly targeted Rep. Eric Swalwell, D-Calif., For his previous connections with an alleged Chinese spy, but also revived comments he made during a 2019 interview with CNN.

“I’m going to fight like hell to make sure we see this report if it’s getting organized again, if it’s using my lungs, if it’s maneuvering our minds, the American people will see this report,” Swalwell told Don Lemon about the Mueller report.

The War Room retweeted criticism of Swalwell’s appointment as impeachment manager, pointing to his rejection of threats that Senator Susan Collins, R-Maine, received amid the bitter Supreme Court confirmation battle against Judge Brett Kavanaugh.

“Boo hoo hoo,” Swalwell reacted. “You are a senator that the police will protect. A sexual assault victim cannot sleep at home because of threats. Where are you sleeping? She is alone while you and your @SenateGOP colleagues try to rush you into an audience . “

The Trump team also criticized Congressman Ted Lieu, D-Calif., Who in a November 2017 exchange with another Twitter user seemed to reject ex-First Lady Michelle Obama’s 2016 mantra of “When they go down , let’s go to the top “.

“I like that. But I like it better, ‘when they fall, we fight’,” Lieu replied.

He also expressed similar rhetoric in February 2017, just weeks after Trump’s presidency.
