Former President Trump added on Saturday a list of organizations he is calling on his supporters to boycott for opposing Georgia’s voting restrictions.
Driving the news: Trump on Friday called for a boycott of the Major League Baseball over plans to move his All-Star Game out of Georgia and “all companies” that had taken a stand, adding “You are listening to Coca, Delta.” In his new statement, he said: “Boycott the Major League Baseball, Coca-Cola, Delta Airlines, JPMorgan Chase, ViacomCBS, Citigroup, Cisco, UPS and Merck.”
What else is he saying: Trump accused the “radical left Democrats” of playing dirty by boycotting companies that offend them.
- “Now they are doing great with WOKE CANCEL CULTURE and our sacred elections,” said Trump.
- “The time has finally come for Republicans and conservatives to react – we have more people than they do – from afar!” he added, before making a series of complaints, including about the 2020 presidential election, and then wishing: “Happy Easter!”
The other side: Democrats criticized the new law, with President Biden calling it “Jim Crow on steroids.”
- Biden said in an interview with ESPN that it aired on Wednesday that he would support the MLB in transferring the game from Atlanta because of the restrictions.
- Citigroup declined to comment, and the other companies mentioned on Trump’s boycott list did not immediately return requests for comment from Axios.
