Tory Lanez wants to talk about his assault case involving Megan Thee Stallion.
According to legal documents obtained by the Complex, the Canadian rapper asked the court to modify the protection order that prevents him from publicly addressing the ongoing legal battle. The motion argues that it is unfair that Megan has repeatedly used his platform to address the case – and share “inflammatory information” – while Lanez is prohibited from doing the same.
Her legal team says the defense has received evidence that contradicts Megan’s statements about the July 12, 2020 incident, when she was allegedly shot by Lanez during an argument in the Hollywood Hills. This evidence is said to include the testimony of an eyewitness, as well as “firearm residues involving others”, which he is not allowed to “reveal outside the legal process”.
The protection order also prohibits Lanez from contacting Megan on social media; his lawyers say it prevents the rapper from responding directly to Megan’s “inflamed statements” and provides clarification on the matter. The motion specifically points to the recent false reports that Lanez’s assault charges have been dropped. Shortly after the story made headlines, Megan turned to social media to suggest that Lanez and his team were behind the “fake news”.
AT THIS POINT I’M GETTING ANGRY! STOP BELIEVING EVERYTHING YOU READ ON THE MF INTERNET. Imagine how I feel waking up every day to see people lying and turning my trauma into a joke? That whole team finds ways to make doubts about my story every week and the media swallows it

Can’t you tell when this news is false? Do you still not see an ABUSER choosing with me? The date of the first trial was postponed before the inauguration, but I cannot wait until the MF FACTS are published! Bitch you shot me AND MY STORY DID NOT CHANGE AND STANDARD YOU GO TO CHAIN

Lanez’s legal team insists that the defense had nothing to do with this misinformation, and that Lanez was unable to respond publicly to the reports due to the protection order.
“[Lanez’s] failed to respond to [Megan’s] Inflammatory and misleading statements can be interpreted as accepting your statements. Nothing can be further from the truth, “says the motion. His allegations are and will be strongly contested and contradicted by the evidence in the case … [Lanez] is unable to respond significantly to any of the statements made by [Megan]. [Lanez] took care to comply with the protection order, but at this point, the protection order is significantly harmful to [Lanez] and compromises your right to a fair and judicial process. “
Lanez was arrested on July 12, 2020, on charges of carrying a gun hidden in a vehicle. He was later accused of a crime is charged with assault with a semi-automatic firearm and possession of a loaded gun registered in a vehicle.
