Tiger Woods reportedly told Los Angeles sheriff’s deputies after his accident that he could not remember driving and was not sure how the accident happened.
Response officers found Woods unconscious and arrested after the legendary golfer crashed a 2021 Genesis SUV, USA Today reported on Wednesday, citing a police statement. Authorities said they used tools to get him out of the vehicle.

“The deputies asked him how the collision occurred,” said the statement. “The driver said he did not know and did not even remember to drive … The driver was treated for injuries at the hospital and was asked again how the collision occurred. He repeated that he did not know and did not remember driving.”
Carlos Gonzalez, a deputy from the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department, was the first to arrive at the scene. He told NBC News “Today” last month that Woods was able to identify himself immediately after the accident, but was not “aware” of the severity of his injuries.
TIGER WOODS CRASH INVESTIGATION FOCUSED ON ‘BLACK BOX’ SUV
Authorities believe the information in the luxury SUV’s “black box” would show how fast the vehicle was traveling before it crashed. TMZ Sports reported that the sheriff’s department obtained the search warrant to seize the device because a judge believed there was “probable cause” to believe that Woods committed a crime.
Sources told the website that the words “reckless driving” were not on the warrant or on any specific crime, but a judge cannot sign a search warrant without the probable cause of the crime. Authorities said earlier that Woods would not receive a charge of reckless driving and there was no evidence of disability.

“The accident or collision investigators issued a search warrant to essentially seize the vehicle’s black box,” Sheriff Alex Villanueva said on Wednesday. “And that’s it. And they will go through it and see if they can find out how the vehicle was performing, what was happening at the time of the impact. And with that, they will have more information they can attribute to the cause of the accident. And that that’s all, and we’ll leave it at that, OK? “
Woods suffered several leg injuries and was transferred to Cedars-Sinai Hospital, where he remains.
